Norm Goldman: A Conversation with Joan about her new book Just In Time :
Raised in Silver Lake, Ohio, Joan Jackson graduated from Ohio State University and pursued further French study in Grenoble, France. Through her French language skill she went from teaching to managing a French Tahitian lumber export company in Oregon, which allowed her to travel extensively throughout the islands of French Polynesia.
While Joan occasionally tutors and substitute teaches French, she is now a free-lance writer, has a collection of short stories, and has published several magazine articles. Her debut novel, Voluntary Chaos, is available on Amazon. She recently completed her second novel, Just In Time.
Joan chats with Conversations Live: Just In Time:
“Voluntary Chaos is long enough to sink your teeth into Sylvia’s psyche, even as Jane Austin lets us spend a lot of time with Elizabeth Bennett.”
– Laura Matthews, Create Space editor.
“Finally, finally, our culture is talking about mental illness and the suffering it brings to those it strikes and those who love them. In this addictively readable, well-written novel, Just In Time is based on her own true story, Joan Jackson humanizes—and even humorizes—the impact of schizophrenia.”
~ Meredith Maran, author of THE NEW OLD ME
“Chaos is provocative and will keep reader’s attention. Jackson excels at details of each event and maintaining the morals and character of the late 70’s, early 80’s.”
– Barbara McIntyre, Akron Beacon Journal
